AITP-RTP Meeting – Death & Your Digital Legacy

Summary:

Derek Ellington discusses with the audience the reality of death and what occurs with your digital assets. Ellington will recount some of the investigations he's conducted with subjects who have passed away and why the need arose to access their digital data.  The true stories that Ellington shares will enlighten the audience as to the importance of preparing and preserving their digital legacies before they die. 

Our Speaker:


Derek Ellington

Derek Ellington is a nationally recognized Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Forensic Examiner, Certified E-Discovery Specialist and a licensed PI with over thirty years of IT experience and over 20 years of Digital Forensics experience. He is a court-recognized expert witness and regularly testifies in all manners of courts and jurisdictions, including Federal Court. He conducts seminars and CLEs for attorneys, paralegals, CPAs and Fraud Investigators. He is an instructor for law enforcement Computer Crime First Responders, and a contributor to family law and legal publications on the subject of Digital Forensics. He is known for his work with Persistent Immersive Technology and its effects on today's youth.

Attendees are permitted to take pictures of individuals or smaller groups as long as permission is given from the subject(s) of the photo. AITP-RTP board members may take pictures or a video recording of presenters and attendees for various purposes.  However, the use of any kind of video recording or video streaming device from attendees is not permitted.  Registration to the meeting implies acceptance of this policy.
