Women in Information Technology
In Fall 2016, the US & News Report noted that during a 30-year period, the number of women computer science majors had dropped from 37 percent in 1984 to 18 percent in 2014.
During this same period, the IT profession in the US created more than three times the number of jobs than the national average. However, by 2025, the study estimates that women will hold only 20% of IT jobs in the US.
The RTP AITP Chapter hosts the local Women in Technology International Chapter for an important discussion on what steps the IT profession can do to attract more women, especially into leadership roles.
